Module 0. Introduction

Students will understand the course's scope, grasp the significance of ISO 50001, benefits, concepts, HSL structure, references, and be primed for in-depth energy management learning.

In this introductory module, students will dive into the world of energy management through the ISO 50001 standard. We'll start by laying a solid foundation, introducing key concepts that will be pivotal throughout the course.

The global significance of energy management will be presented, and how ISO 50001 has become the cornerstone for best practices in organizations worldwide. Students will become acquainted with terms like EnMS (Energy Management System), EnB (Energy Baseline), SEUs (Significant Energy Uses), and EnPIs (Energy Performance Indicators).

Additionally, an overview of the standard's requirements will be provided, setting the stage for a deeper understanding in subsequent modules. By the end of this introduction, students will have a clear grasp of the foundational concepts and will be primed to tackle the more detailed topics of energy management as the course progresses.

I am eager to share my positive experience. This course offers an in-depth look into energy management principles, backed by practical examples that bridge theory with real-world practice. The extra certification for becoming an 'Energy Efficiency Auditor' is a testament to the course's rigor and adds great value to one's professional journey. I appreciated the inclusion of related ISO standards, like ISO 31000 and ISO 19011, which provided a holistic understanding of the field.
